The woman behind the notebook
I received a B.A. in Communications and sped off to work my first 9 to 5 job. I was doing what I was “supposed” to be doing. But I didn’t stop ‘doing’ long enough to think about what really brought me joy or what I was passionate about, until, I was married and became a mom for the first time. THIS is what I was made for! I had the opportunity to be the woman I needed as a girl. And much like we all discover as parents, plenty of opportunities arose.
One of the biggest ones came in the form of my husband and I helping our oldest of three daughters manage her new reality after a traumatic brain injury. Relearning coping skills and managing short-term memory loss required understanding, and organizational tools became necessities. It was an opportunity to teach the idea of “unseen challenges” to our girls and why kindness always matters.
While helping our middle daughter overcome some challenges of self-doubt and sinking self-confidence during a difficult school year, the artist, planner and dreamer in me came back to life!
I became a Certified Health Coach and Teen Mentor. Focusing on individual ((learning styles)) combined with personal motivators, I created What is your Girl Power. It concentrated on helping girls find their voice and keep their confidence through self-care, ((affirmations)) and understanding their own emotional intelligence. The small group workshops provided learning, resources and the opportunity to link arms with others.
A building expansion meant the possibility for a bigger group space. But it would mean I would have to wait patiently on construction. I used the time to coach virtually and expand my certifications to include Teen Empowerment, Emotional Intelligence and Therapeutic Art. What I didn’t know at the time was that I wasn’t about to just have access to a bigger space, I was about to see clients have access to whole-self wellness under one roof!
And my girls? They are all doing amazing and becoming
exactly who they are meant to be in this world.
Helping teens build their EQ muscles to handle what life throws at them!
